On Friday, May 19th, Heritage Trust hosted their 13th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at the Golf Club at Wescott Plantation in Summerville to benefit the American Cancer Society. This year’s event was dedicated to a fellow employee of Heritage Trust of 30 years who had recently lost her battle to cancer. The event raises community awareness and helps fund better ways to prevent, detect and treat cancer. In addition to branch fundraisers, a corporate sponsorship commitment, and funds donated in honor of the Heritage Trust employee, this year’s tournament raised $17,000.
Over 55 players joined local businesses and industry leaders to show their support through personal donations and corporate sponsorships. Players also had the opportunity to celebrate this annual event with an awards ceremony following the tournament.
“Heritage Trust has been a longtime supporter of the American Cancer Society and the Relay For Life event. The Annual Charity Golf Tournament is our way of raising funds to help combat this terrible disease that has impacted so many lives”, commented Heritage Trust CEO/President, Jim McDaniel. “I am proud and thankful for all of the sponsors who eagerly answered our call for action this year. At Heritage Trust, we believe strongly in giving back to the communities we serve and are looking forward to next year’s golf outing and the opportunity to do more in the fight against cancer.”
Funds raised at the tournament, as well as through other fundraising efforts held throughout the year, were donated to the American Cancer Society at their signature event, the Relay For Life, on May 20th. Relay For Life is a yearly celebration that raises money and public awareness in the fight against cancer.
